My Favorite Family-Friendly Places in Wayzata, MN

Panoway on Wayzata Bay is the fancy word for the stretch of lakefront property in Wayzata. My children’s favorite part is the little splash pad at the intersection of Lake Street and Walker Street. Especially after grabbing ice cream at the Ben & Jerry’s!

The Noerenberg Memorial Gardens are a beautiful spot for outdoor family photos. A haven of quiet beauty on Crystal Bay, and a dream for gardening enthusiasts.

Wayzata Beach is one of my family’s favorite places in the city. The updated playground is fantastic and even has some water features for children averse to touching lake water (ahem, my eldest). The sand is great for castle-building, and there are even adirondack chairs for parents who stop by for unplanned fun.

James J. Hill Days is more of an event than a place, but still worthy of a mention here. This festival is held in Wayzata every fall, and I have been attending for years. I still remember marching in the parade <cough> years ago when I was in the Wayzata High School marching band! There is a carnival with rides and food and performances – a surefire hit with kids.

I cried when I saw the photos. Rebecca authentically captured my family leaving us with beautiful, artistic photos we’ll treasure for our lifetime.”
